PHOTOS Here are some pictures from the 2008 International Convention, which was in Peoria, Illinois.....
Staying off the Interstates and taking the old US Highways - Now THAT'S the way to see the U.S.A.!
We had a very nice ride to Ravina on the Lakes for a private barbecue. And here's Ann & Mike's 2007 Ultra (...and just a few other bikes) at Ravina....
Ann as we rode along Grandview Avenue, which winds (...and I *do* mean WINDS) high above the Illinois River. President Teddy Roosevelt called it one of the most scenic roads in any city in the Country. It was a very nice ride....
Lois & John Gordon get their picture taken with the Jack Daniels Dragster, which was located right in front of our hotel.
We took a walk down the River Front, which was about 4 blocks from our hotel. The Spirit of Peoria makes runs up & down the Illinois River, complete with river boat gambling, I'm told. The bridge is old US-24, which is the way we came into and left Town.
The front of the International Parade, with the rest of the bikes running down the block. That's International President Mike Ripsch next to the Peoria Police bike & Mike's bike is about 6 bikes back on the left. Speaking of which, there's Mike's bike with the Flag of Poland, ready to go. Pulling in front of the hotel after the Parade, International President Mike Ripsch & Chapter President Mike Gratis pause for a picture with their bikes. Ann waits for the Caterpillar Show to start. It was quite a show - The tires on that rig in the center are about 8 feet tall, and that was a "medium sized" rig. I wasn't kidding - Mike stands 6'2" and is dwarfed by this rig. You could have 10-12 people standing in that bucket quite comfortably. Just was we were getting ready to leave, I took this shot of Ann by her bike in the parking garage. Oh, yes, Ann rode her own bike out there (...by herself) and back (...with me), plus she did a side trip down to St. Louis, MO.
